4/28/24 Mets Notebook: Tomás Nido making most of opportunity as Francisco Alvarez's injury replacement. Tomás Nido didn't know if he would get an opportunity with the Mets this season. The veteran catcher — a member of the organization for more than a decade — began the year at Triple-A Syracuse, the same place he finished 2023, with Francisco Alvarez establishing himself as the Mets' everyday backstop and Omar Narváez returning as his backup. “I'm grateful to be here,” Nido told the Daily News. Originally an eighth-round pick in 2012, Nido debuted with the Mets in 2017 and has spent time with the big-league club in each of the past eight seasons.

The baseball players’ association has asked a federal court to confirm an arbitrator’s decision denying an attempt by a baseball agent at Bad Bunny’s Rimas Sports firm to block the agent's decertification by the union. The Major League Baseball Players Association has decertified agent William Arroyo and denied certification to Noah Assad and Jonathan Miranda, two executives with Rimas Sports. The union said it found “extensive, serious violations” of its regulations by the agency and fined the three men $400,000 for misconduct. Arroyo had been certified to represent New York Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez and infielder Ronny Mauricio. Bad Bunny is one of the top-selling musicians in the world.

4/20/24 Mets make roster move after Francisco Alvarez injury. The New York Mets have recently turned things around after a rough start to the season. Carlos Mendoza's club is 11-8 after starting off 0-5. The Mets have hit a slight bump in the road, though, as they placed catcher Francisco Alvarez on the 10-day IL Saturday with a sprained thumb. The club promoted Tomas Nido from Triple-A Syracuse to temporarily replace his spot, via Mike Puma of the New York Post.
