7/18/25 | Red Sox Insider Predicts Trade Involving Boston Outfielder For No. 2 Starter. The Boston Red Sox's outfield is so talented that it might be too talented. Now that Masataka Yoshida and Alex Bregman have returned, the Red Sox's lineup is as healthy as it's been all season. The Red Sox have a logjam, but they don't necessarily need to address it now. 7/11/25 | Red Sox Lineup: Masataka Yoshida To Bench After Season Debut. Boston Red Sox designated hitter/outfielder Masataka Yoshida made his long-awaited 2025 season debut on Wednesday night and helped the team finish a sweep against the Colorado Rockies with a 10-2 victory. Yoshida, who missed the first 93 games of the year due to a shoulder injury, went 3-for-4 with a double, one run scored and one RBI. Despite the huge effort, Yoshida will retreat to the bench for the series-opener against the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday. The 31-year-old's move to the bench likely has nothing to do with his performance, but more so due to the team's logjam in the outfield. 7/10/25 | How Red Sox Outfielder Is Handling Growing Lineup Logjam. The Boston Red Sox lineup got more crowded before the All-Star break. Boston already had four outfielders justifying regular reps before activating Masataka Yoshida from the injured list. Starting at designated hitter, he went 3-for-4 in a successful season debut Wednesday night. Wilyer Abreu nevertheless stayed in the starting lineup to belt his 18th home run as Boston's cleanup hitter. The 26-year-old had sat out three of the previous four games, all against left-handed starting pitchers. Following Wednesday's 10-2 win over the Colorado Rockies, via NESN's post-game coverage , Abreu discussed how he's handling sporadic playing time. “I always try to stay ready,” Abreu said. “I feel like everyone Source: https://nesn.com/2025/07/how-red-sox-outfielder-is... |
7/10/25 | Back with the Red Sox after an injury-plagued start of the season, Masataka Yoshida still has to prove he belongs. Don't dismiss Yoshida's three hits because they came against the dreadful Rockies. Yoshida saw 15 pitches over four at-bats and put the ball in play every time. “That's a big at-bat for us,” manager Alex Cora said. The Sox didn't need a lefthanded-hitting designated hitter with Devers on the roster and had Wilyer Abreu, Jarren Duran, Ceddanne Rafaela, and Rob Refsnyder to play the outfield.
