One pitch into their showdown with the Detroit Tigers on Friday, the Los Angeles Angels reached a major milestone. Shortstop Zach Neto saw a high fastball from left-hander Tarik Skubal, the reigning AL Cy Young winner. Mike DiGiovanna, formerly of the Los Angeles Times, noted that the Angels have now recorded at least one hit in 4,000 consecutive regular season games. Zach Neto hit a tiebreaking homer leading off the eighth inning and the Los Angeles Angels beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-3 on Thursday night to avoid a three-game series sweep. Neto, who missed the first three weeks of the season recovering from right-shoulder surgery, lined an 81 mph sweeper from Pirates reliever Chase Shugart (1-1) over the wall in left to snap a 3-all tie and finished with three hits.
