Cincinnati Reds first baseman Christian Encarnacion-Strand will undergo surgery to repair ligaments in his right wrist, manager David Bell said Tuesday. Encarnacion-Strand, who has been sidelined since early May with a fractured bone in his wrist, will have surgery on July 11 with an expected recovery timeline of three months. Bell declined to say whether Encarnacion-Strand would play again this season, but if the timeline holds he would not return during the regular season.
