5/18/24 Las Vegas Raiders QBs get zero respect in Chris Simms' rankings. It's fair to have questions about Las Vegas Raiders quarterbacks Gardner Minshew and Aidan O'Connell, but where NBC Sports analyst Chris Simms has them in his quarterback rankings deserves some scrutiny. For starters, O'Connell didn't even make Simms' list, which is fair considering the limited sample size we have of him. But Simms puts Minshew at No. 39 of 40, which is problematic when you see who is ahead of him. The former NFL quarterback puts the Philadelphia Eagles' Kenny Pickett, the New England Patriots' Jacoby Brissett, the Minnesota Vikings' Sam Darnold and the Carolina Panthers' Bryce Young all ahead of the Raiders signal-caller. Lest we forget, Minshew nearly took the Indianapolis

5/18/24 Where Las Vegas Raiders landed in recent NFL offense rankings. The Las Vegas Raiders enter the 2024 NFL season with question marks on both sides of the ball, but none bigger than the one at the most important position in the sport. After failing to add to their quarterbacks room in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Raiders are set to roll with either Gardner Minshew, a free-agent signing, or Aidan O'Connell, both of whom will compete for the starting job during training camp. Partly because of their quarterback situation, Bleacher Report's Alex Ballentine placed the Raiders at No. 23 on the list, although he is higher on the situation than most.

5/16/24 Las Vegas Raiders' offseason decision ranked among worst in NFL. The Las Vegas Raiders failed to land what many would consider a difference-maker at the quarterback position this offseason. The team signed Gardner Minshew and has Aidan O'Connell coming back, but neither inspire much confidence, both in the media and with fans. More evidence of the former comes from Bleacher Report's Alex Kay, who called the Raiders not landing a franchise quarterback one of the six worst offseason decisions in the NFL.

5/14/24 Former Raiders Pro Bowler Wanted Las Vegas to Trade up for Michael Penix Jr.. In the weeks leading up to the 2024 NFL Draft, there was a lot of talk about the Las Vegas Raiders taking former Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. with the No. 13 pick. The Raiders had Aidan O'Connell and a veteran in Gardner Minshew II, but there was still an opportunity to find their QB1 in what was a loaded quarterback draft class. Before taking Penix was even an option, the Atlanta Falcons selected the star prospect with the No. 8 overall pick, a move that shocked the football world.

5/13/24 Raiders HC Antonio Pierce is Ready to See Aidan O'Connell's Offseason Growth on the Field. For the Las Vegas Raiders, this summer will be mainly about their quarterback position and who will win the competition for the starting spot. After bringing in veteran quarterback Gardner Minshew, the Raiders are expecting him to push second-year quarterback Aidan O'Connell for the starting position. After unexpectedly being upgraded from third-string quarterback to starting quarterback last season after Josh McDaniels was fired, O'Connell guided the Raiders to a 5-4 record over the second half of the season.

Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce spoke with reporters on Friday and indicated that 2023 fourth-round draft pick Aidan O'Connell has an early advantage over journeyman Gardner Minshew regarding a quarterback competition that's expected to last through at least a portion of the preseason.

5/09/24 Assistant GM Champ Kelly, Raiders Confident in QB situation. The Las Vegas Raiders were expected to be a team in the running to select a quarterback in the first round of this year's NFL Draft. Despite this, Raiders assistant general manager Champ Kelly said the team is confident in the quarterbacks on their roster. "I think to speak on that room, right now, we've got four guys in that room,” Kelly said. You guys know Aidan O'Connell and what he did last year, Gardner Minshew, [whom] we added in free agency, Anthony Brown — nobody has spoken about him, but he does a really good job for us right now, and then we added Carter Bradley.

5/03/24 Is Raiders' Gardner Minshew the favorite over Aidan O'Connell for QB job?. After not taking a quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Las Vegas Raiders are officially set to have Gardner Minshew and Aidan O'Connell battle it out for the starting job in training camp this year, much to the chagrin of those Raiders fans out there who wanted another, younger option with more upside thrown into the mix. Minshew has the advantage in experience and is coming off a season in which he nearly led the Indianapolis Colts to the playoffs while replacing starter Anthony Richardson, whose season ended early. O'Connell is the incumbent in the competition and had an impressive rookie campaign in 2023, especially considering the circumstances that saw him get thrown into a starting job following a head-coaching change.

5/02/24 Raiders make trade to get Shedeur Sanders in top 5 of ESPN's early 2025 mock draft. The Las Vegas Raiders missed out on all the quarterbacks in the 2024 NFL Draft , so they'll go into the season with Aidan O'Connell and Gardner Minshew under center. So, it stands to reason they will be looking for a QB again next season, and in ESPN's 2025 mock NFL Draft, Las Vegas makes a big move, trading up to select Colorado football signal-caller Shedeur Sanders. In Jordan Reid's 2025 mock NFL Draft on ESPN, the Tennessee Titans pick at No. 5 and the Raiders start with the No. 10 selection. Reid has Vegas trading up , though, and taking the second QB off the board (after Georgia's Carson Beck at No. 1), Shedeur Sanders. “With Davante Adams, Jakobi Meyers and Brock Bowers on offense, the

4/28/24 After passing on QBs in the draft, the Raiders will stick with Gardner Minshew and Aidan O'Connell. Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Aidan O'Connell (4) warms up before an NFL football game against the Denver Broncos at Allegiant Stadium Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024. When six quarterbacks went off the NFL draft board in the first 12 picks Thursday and Las Vegas hadn't traded up to become one of those clubs, it was clear the Raiders already had the QBs they plan to take into next season.

4/10/24 Evaluating the Raiders' QB options in 2024 NFL draft. The Las Vegas Raiders are at the choose-your-own-adventure portion of their search to fill the most important position in team sports. Because while they return Aidan O'Connell -- who started 10 games last season as a rookie and finished the final four with a flourish, leading the Raiders to a 3-1 record while throwing eight touchdown passes with no interceptions -- signed veteran Gardner Minshew in free agency and have Anthony Brown on the roster, it's obvious Raiders coach Antonio Pierce is in new general manager Tom Telesco's ear about upgrading at quarterback.

4/04/24 3 quarterbacks Raiders could take in 2024 NFL draft to start. The Las Vegas Raiders have put together a solid roster on both sides of the ball with their moves in recent years, but the team has a question mark when it comes to the future at the sport's most important position. As things stand now, the Raiders are set to have a competition between 2023 fourth-round pick Aidan O'Connell, who finished as the starter last season, and veteran signal-caller Gardner Minshew, who began the 2023 campaign as the Indianapolis Colts' backup before taking over for an injured Anthony Richardson and nearly taking Indy to the playoffs. While both are good enough to get the Raiders by and allow them to compete for a playoff spot in 2024, the jury is still out on the long-term viability of O'Connell, and Minshew isn't a locked-in, long-term solution, either. Knowing that, the Raiders could be in the market for a quarterback in the 2024 NFL draft.

4/03/24 3 sleeper prospects Raiders must target in 2024 NFL Draft. The Las Vegas Raiders have been on a high note in recent months after a strong finish to the 2023-2024 season and the coronation of Antonio Pierce as head coach. Pierce, a linebacker during his playing days in the NFL, has helped transform Las Vegas into a tough-minded and physical team. The Raiders hold one pick in each round of the 2024 NFL Draft including two seventh-round picks and the 13th overall pick. With these picks, coach Pierce and the Raiders have aspirations of drafting help for quarterback Aidan O'Connell and perhaps even taking his future replacement.
