1/12/24 Community Prospect List No. 12. After finalizing the top 10 on Wednesday, we're back in action to add to the 2024 Willie McCovey Memorial Community Prospect List. We still have a lot of names to add before we've accomplished our goal of ranking the top 44 prospects in the San Francisco Giants organization. Coming it at No. 11 is one of the best stories of the 2023 season, outfielder Wade Meckler, who rises 31 spots over his placement last year in his inaugural CPL. Meckler is the fastest rising Giants prospect in the Farhan Zaidi era, and was the fourth player from his draft class to make the Majors. Despite being an eighth-round pick in 2022, the left-handed hitter opened his first full season in High-A, following short stops

12/04/23 Player Review: Wade Meckler. It's fitting that Wade Meckler's name follows Luis Matos alphabetically, thus chronologically canonized in the McCovey Chronicles 2023 Player Review Bible. Same position, shared youth, chasing each other through the San Francisco Giants farm system. Meckler started the season in High-A Eugene. 39 games in Richmond in which he dipped into our atmosphere, hitting .336 with an .881 OPS, meant a jump up to Triple-A on August 1st.

9/05/23 Giants bats come alive at the expense of everything else. The Giants entered Tuesday's game against the Chicago Cubs with an offensive ineptitude that was on all of our minds. Wade Meckler, who had saved the bottom of the first inning with a diving catch, worked a two-out count full, then put just enough muscle on an opposite-field line drive to clear the infield and score a second run.

8/16/23 Estrada, Flores hit home runs as Giants offense comes alive in 7-0 win over Tampa Bay Rays. As trying a baseball journey as Wade Meckler had to reach the majors only a year after being drafted, Giants manager Gabe Kapler knew he had to defend the rookie center fielder playing just his second big league game. Kapler argued a questionable strike call in the fourth inning of a 7-0 win against the Tampa Bay Rays and had to watch on television Tuesday night, after being ejected by plate umpire Chad Whitson, as Meckler delivered his first career hit in the sixth. Meckler hardly flinched — and knew better than to argue two days in — after all, he got cut twice at Oregon State after joining the program as an undersized walk-on.

8/15/23 Minor League round up, 8/14: How will Luis Matos do back in AAA?. Just three games for the San Francisco Giants Minor League Baseball affiliates on Monday, as the A-ball teams all had the day off, as did Bryce Eldridge's ACL Giants Orange team. As you probably know by now, the big news is that outfielder Wade Meckler (No. 42 CPL) has been promoted to the Majors, where he became just the fourth player from the 2022 MLB Draft Class to reach the show. It will be interesting to see what the Giants do with Matos if he does in Sacramento what he was doing before getting called up.

8/14/23 What we learned as Giants routed by Rays in Meckler's MLB debut. Wade Meckler's MLB debut wasn't enough to jumpstart the Giants' offense as they lost for the seventh time in their last nine games.
