5/03/24 Chicago Cubs may have to move on from this former top prospect. On May 5, 2023 Mervis was recalled from Triple-A Iowa after hitting .295/.407/.580 with six homers and as many walks (17) as strikeouts in the month of April. Pete Crow-Armstrong was horrible at the end of last season and MLB's top prospect, Jackson Holliday, had a rough first taste of the highest level of competition when he made his debut earlier this year.

5/02/24 Mets-Cubs series finale came with yet another umpire controversy. Another day, another questionable call in the Mets-Cubs series. A little over 12 hours after a game-ending call controversy involving a slide at home plate, umpires in Thursday's matinee game at Citi Field seemingly missed another call after a slide, this time at second base. In the sixth inning, Pete Crow-Armstrong laced a double into right field but overshot the base, using his helmet to hold onto the bag as he was tagged by Mets shortstop Joey Wendle. 4/25/24 Crow-Armstrong homers for his first big league hit as the Cubs beat the Astros 3-1. Pete Crow-Armstrong hit a tiebreaking two-run homer for his first major league hit, and the Chicago Cubs swept the Houston Astros with a 3-1 victory. Nico Hoerner had three hits and Mike Tauchman went 1 for 1 with three walks as Chicago won for the fourth time in five games. Hayden Wesneski pitched 2 1/3 perfect innings for the win in relief of Javier Assad. Houston has lost a season-high five straight and eight of nine overall. At 7-19, it is off to its worst 26-game start since it was 6-20 in 1969.

The Chicago Cubs boast one of MLB's best farm systems burgeoning with Top 100 talent that isn't all that far off from making an impact in the big leagues. What those lists don't necessarily show, however, is the amount of depth present beyond names like Pete Crow-Armstrong, Cade Horton, and Owen Caissie. Rojas was picked up as part of the Cubs' international signing class in 2022 and initially didn't grab many headlines.
