9/09/25 | This past weekend reminded us of the beauty of sports. It comes from baseball legend Yogi Berra, one of the great philosophers of our time. If Mr. Berra was still here today, he'd be beaming with pride over the Baltimore Orioles and Buffalo Bills, whose exploits over the weekend made his words appear truer than ever. The lowly Orioles — a team this writer has been obsessed with for his entire life — were one out away from being no-hit by the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday night. In Baltimore's final chance to avoid historic futility, young second baseman Jackson Holliday belted a home run to end the potential no-hitter — and kickstart an all-time rally. 9/02/25 | Orioles young star joins exclusive franchise list reaching in-season milestone. With the first overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft, the Baltimore Orioles selected middle infielder Jackson Holliday out of Stillwater High School in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Expectations were high for the son of seven-time All-Star Matt Holliday, and it wouldn't be long before he was considered the No. 1 prospect in the sport. Despite limited time in the minor leagues, the Orioles had seen enough out of Holliday to promote him early during the 2024 campaign. On April 10, 2024, he made his MLB debut against the Boston Red Sox. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/orioles/news/orioles-young-... |
