9/07/25 Royals, Guardians still battling to remain in playoff race. The Kansas City Royals and Cleveland Guardians expected to be playing important games in early September. Both clubs' quest for the postseason continues Monday, when they begin a four-game set in Cleveland. Royals right-hander Ryan Bergert (2-1, 2.61 ERA) faces Guardians right-hander Slade Cecconi (5-6, 4.78) in the start of what could be a knockout series for one of their squads. "What could be more fun?" Kansas City manager Matt Quatraro said.

9/03/25 Royals turn to surprising rookie RHP Ryan Bergert against Angels. Ryan Bergert has been simply stellar during his early tenure with the Kansas City Royals. The rookie aims to continue his surprise success and try to help host the Royals even this series against the Los Angeles Angels, who can win their first road series in more than a month on Wednesday night. Bergert (2-1, 2.67 ERA), who made his major league debut April 26 with San Diego, likely wasn't expected to be a factor for the Royals (70-68) when he was part of the deadline trade that sent backup catcher Freddy Fermin to the Padres.

Consistency and composure have accompanied Kansas City Royals rookie right-hander Ryan Bergert in each of his four starts with the team. Bergert hopes those components finally conspire for his first win with his new club on Wednesday night when he faces the host Chicago White Sox. Bergert (1-1, 2.79 ERA) has pitched to a 2.82 ERA in four starts covering 22 1/3 innings since joining the Royals in a trade-deadline deal with the San Diego Padres last month.

Ryan Bergert has enjoyed a solid start to his Kansas City tenure and now has a chance to help the Royals continue their home dominance of the Chicago White Sox. The 25-year-old rookie right-hander will seek a third straight solid start Sunday afternoon for the Royals, who can sweep this three-game set with a 14th consecutive home win over the White Sox. Bergert (1-1, 2.87 ERA) has helped an injury-plagued rotation by allowing two runs over 5 2/3 innings in each of his two starts since coming from San Diego at the trade deadline last month.
