7/01/25 Reunions with Braves World Series Champions Coming to Atlanta This Week. This week has turned out to be reunion season for the Atlanta Braves with multiple members of the organization returning to Truist Park. Three notable standouts are on the rosters of the Angels and Orioles teams coming to Atlanta: World Series champions Charlie Morton, Travis d'Arnaud and Jorge Soler. All three played with the Braves as recently as last season.

6/28/25 Baltimore Orioles Veteran Starter's Turnaround Makes Him Trade Deadline Target. At one point, Charlie Morton was so bad the Baltimore Orioles consigned him to their bullpen. The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal (subscription required) wrote on Friday that Morton is “emerging as a legitimate trade candidate” after he's flipped the script on an abysmal start of the season. Baltimore signed the 41-year-old right-hander after whiffing on trying to re-sign Corbin Burnes. In hindsight, the O's dodged a bullet as Burnes underwent Tommy John surgery earlier this year.

6/27/25 Orioles rumors: The 41-year-old trade candidate with a $15 million concern. The Baltimore Orioles have not lived up to most expectations this season, and one of the club's veterans might not be able to net a trade deadline return given his contract. Orioles starting pitcher, Charlie Morton, has recovered from a sloppy start to his season, but longtime insider Ken Rosenthal has concerns regarding other team's appetite for a potential acquisition. “Don't look now, but the symbol of the Orioles' early collapse, right-hander Charlie Morton, is emerging as a legitimate trade candidate,” Rosenthal reported.

6/19/25 Focus turns to pitchers after Orioles, Rays engage in 20-run slugfest. After flexing their offensive muscle in their showdown Wednesday night, the Baltimore Orioles and host Tampa Bay Rays actually have reason to feel confident with their starting pitchers on Thursday night in the finale of their four-game series. Baltimore's Charlie Morton (3-7, 6.05 ERA) will get the nod against Tampa Bay's Drew Rasmussen (6-4, 2.55) in a battle of right-handers. While both pitchers are enjoying positive stretches, Morton and Rasmussen will need to be sharp after their teams combined for 20 runs on 25 hits -- including four homers -- in the Rays' 12-8 victory on Wednesday.

6/16/25 Orioles Veteran Joins Hall of Famer on Exclusive List With Recent Dominant Outing. Baltimore Orioles veteran pitcher Charlie Morton looked like he had finally run out of gas at the start of the 2025 MLB regular season. Signed this past winter to a one-year, $15 million deal, he was expected to provide the team with a reliable innings-eater at the back end of the starting rotation. Morton pitched in relief for a few weeks, making one spot start against the Minnesota Twins on May 7, pitching only four innings and having three earned runs scored aginast him en route to his seventh loss of the campaign. Nothing was going right for the veteran, who was receiving a longer leash than fellow free agent addition Kyle Gibson, who was designated for assignment after four starts because of how poorly he performed.

6/14/25 This Might Have Caused Charlie Morton's Turnaround With Orioles. Perhaps there was no bigger scapegoat during the Baltimore Orioles' early struggles this season than Charlie Morton. Signed to a one-year, $15 million contract this past winter as a replacement for the departed Corbin Burnes, his tenure got off to a disastrous start with a 9.38 ERA and an 0-7 record across his nine outings that included six starts. All of a sudden, Morton looks like the guy the Orioles envisioned when they handed him that deal. Interim manager Tony Mansolino believes it has something to do with a mechanical issue that has been solved.

6/09/25 Baltimore Orioles Must Prepare for Regression From Tomoyuki Sugano in Rotation. Not much has gone right for the Baltimore Orioles during the 2025 MLB regular season when it comes to the additions that were made this past winter. Charlie Morton, while finding his way in recent starts, began his Orioles tenure so poorly that he was removed from the starting rotation after four starts. The same cannot be said about Kyle Gibson, who made four starts and was designated for assignment after some brutal performances. The only starting pitcher addition the team made who has provided any positive results consistently is Tomoyuki Sugano.

6/08/25 Orioles rally past A’s, 7-4, behind 455-foot bomb and big plays at plate. After Charlie Morton allowed four runs in the first inning, the Orioles' bullpen picked him up and Colton Cowser and Gunnar Henderson did the rest.

6/05/25 A short-term Cubs rotation fix might be hiding in the last place you'd expect. One thing is very clear: the Chicago Cubs will be pursuing starting pitching hard all season. One name that could be kicked around is 41-year-old veteran righty Charlie Morton, who is currently pitching for the last-place Orioles. Morton has pitched in the Majors for 18 years and is a career 4.07 ERA, 3.86 FIP, 1.3 WHIP, pitcher with 2,099 strikeouts, 814 walks in 2,179.1 innings.

6/01/25 Finally: Orioles beat White Sox, 3-2, for first series sweep of season. Charlie Morton's bounce back continued Sunday as he allowed one unearned run in 6 2/3 innings as the Orioles swept the White Sox, 3-2.

5/28/25 Orioles Rehabbing Star Pitcher Provides Timeline of Potential Return to Team. The Baltimore Orioles' starting pitching situation this season has been a disaster. Veterans Charlie Morton and Kyle Gibson, both signed ahead of the campaign, provided the team with no positive production. Morton has been working through his shortcomings and pitching better of late, but Gibson was designated for assignment after four brutal starts. Along with ineffectiveness, the team has been hit incredibly hard by the injury bug.

5/27/25 Tipsheet: O's Morton finds himself just in time to stifle Cardinals. Veteran Charlie Morton was arguably the single most disappointing pitcher in baseball this season. Morton, 41, went 0-5 with a 10.89 ERA over his first five starts for Baltimore. “He's got a long track record,” Orioles interim manager Tony Mansolino said. In his first 12 appearances overall, six starts and six relief appearances, the Orioles went 0-12.
