3/14/24 Aaron Hicks trying to work his way into everyday role with the Angels. When the Angels signed outfielder Aaron Hicks in early February, he created a bit of a stir by telling reporters that he was going to be an everyday player. The Angels, it turns out, had never told Hicks or his agent that. Hicks was simply speaking from years of experience and voicing his plan to play his way into that role. “If you make yourself feel like you're a bench player, you're going to be a bench player,” Hicks said this week.

GM Perry Minasian Doesn't Close Door on Angels Having 5 Outfielders on Roster The Halos are keeping their options wide open. Author: Matt Levine Publish date: Feb 2, 2024 4:18 PM EST In this story: Los Angeles Angels The Los Angeles Angels signing of veteran outfielder Aaron Hicks gives them plenty of depth at the position . But it has also caused some potential issues, as well. The signing of Hicks means a potential log jam on the Angels' roster in the outfield. While he does provide depth, the Halos may elect to move one of their other options. They already have Mike Trout, Jo Adell, Taylor Ward and Mickey Moniak on the team. Adding Hicks could prove to be too many guys at one position.

1/26/24 Yankees supposedly asked ex-outfielder to give up golf due to injuries, former MLB player says. The New York Yankees' breakup with Aaron Hicks was sour, but now there may be an explanation for why it happened. The Yanks inked the outfielder to a seven-year, $70 million deal ahead of the 2019 season, but injuries and poor play almost immediately followed. For a brief time, Hicks was in the upper echelon of center fielders in baseball, but his play declined and the Yankees moved on from him. Last week, he competed at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions celebrity tournament, which New York Mets utilityman Jeff McNeil won.

1/25/24 Yankees bust is still unsigned — even though he'll essentially cost nothing. Of the unsigned centerfielders, Aaron Hicks could come at a cost that makes signing the former Yankees bust worth it. After flaming out with the Yankees two months into last season, Hicks had a resurgent streak with the Baltimore Orioles, where he closed the year with a .275/.381/.425 slash over 236 plate appearances. Hicks also showed great plate discipline, walking at 14.8% clip. Essentially, Hicks will cost next to nothing for any team that does want to take a chance.
