5/22/25 | Padres Notes: Major Yu Darvish Update, Trade Deadline Prediction, Friars Continue to Struggle. The San Diego Padres lost, 14-0, to the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday evening. 5/21/25 | Yu Darvish Not With Padres in Toronto Despite Plan For Him to Join Team. The San Diego Padres have been without veteran Yu Darvish since he was sidelined with elbow inflammation back in March. From the presumed Opening Day starter to reports of fatigue in his throwing arm to an elongated IL stint, Darvish is trending toward a return, but isn't quite there yet. The plan from the veteran was to make his return to the team Tuesday, as the Padres start a three-game set against the Toronto Blue Jays, but manager Mike Shildt shed some more light on his ace needing more time. This is on par with the new plan from spring training to ensure Darvish is playing his best baseball in October. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/padres/san-diego-padres-new... |

5/15/25 | A's Prospect Hang Loss on San Diego Padres Ace in Rehab Start. San Diego Padres right-hander Yu Darvish was making a rehab start on Wednesday night for the Triple-A El Paso Chihuahuas, and for the most part he pitched pretty well. The only blemish on his night was a walk to Logan Davidson, followed by a home run by A's No. 2 prospect, Colby Thomas. Thomas' days as the A's second-best prospect are numbered, since the guy ahead of him is Nick Kurtz, who is already in the big leagues. After that home run, Darvish allowed just one hit to lead off the second, but that was wiped out on a double play ball to end the inning.
