6/03/25 Former Tiger, two-time All-Star announces retirement from MLB. Former Detroit Tigers infielder Josh Harrison confirmed the conclusion of his MLB career on Saturday with a post on social media announcing his retirement. Fourteen years to the date he made his major-league debut with the Pittsburgh Pirates as a starting third baseman against the Mets, Harrison ended a career that included two All-Star selections.

Harrison, 37, last played in MLB on July 30, 2023, for the Philadelphia Phillies. “14 years ago to this day I made my major league debut, and today I officially announce my retirement from Major League Baseball,” Harrison wrote in a statement posted to X.

5/22/25 Tigers sign ex-Nationals prospect to minor-league deal. The Detroit Tigers are signing a pair of right-handed pitchers to minor-league deals, highlighted by former Athletics and Washington Nationals prospect Richard Guasch. Guasch, 27, is set to report to Double-A, while 25-year-old Dariel Fregio has been assigned to the Tigers' rookie affiliate after being signed on Thursday. An international signee out of Cuba, Guasch began his career in 2018 in the Athletics' affiliates, getting to High-A in 2021 before being traded to the Nationals as part of a deal involving Josh Harrison and Yan Gomes.
