1/12/25 | Texas Rangers Boss Describes How he Approaches Pursuing Free Agents. Maybe the Texas Rangers haven't made the splashy moves of years past, but they're certainly spending money this offseason. The centerpiece was managing to re-sign starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi to a three-year, $75 million deal, keeping the 2023 World Series hero with the Rangers through 2027. Texas nailed down a designated hitter by signing Joc Pederson to a two-year deal worth $37 million, though the second year has an option. The Rangers also spent $13.5 million over two years on catcher Kyle Higashioka, as they move to a tandem at catcher with Jonah Heim. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/rangers/news/texas-rangers-... |
1/10/25 | Texas Rangers Offseason Trade Acquisition Open to 'Position Flexibility'. The Texas Rangers have been busy this offseason to try and fix the issues that plagued them in their 2024 campaign. The club re-signed pitcher Nathan Eovaldi to a three-year, $75 million deal, signed reliever Jacob Webb to a one-year, $1.25 million deal, and signed catcher Kyle Higashioka to a two-year, $13.5 million deal, among many other free agent signings either of the Major or minor league variety. The Rangers have been active on the trade market, as well, with many of their trades taking place to make room on their roster for signings. One trade, however, was to add more depth to their roster when they acquired Jake Burger from the Miami Marlins. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/rangers/news/texas-rangers-... |
1/09/25 | Surprising Texas Rangers Trade Proposal Could Bring New York Yankees Veteran. The Texas Rangers tax situation makes completing trades and signings a bit more challenging than other teams around Major League Baseball. Reports have indicated that they want to stay below the first tax apron, and as currently constructed, the Rangers are about $12 million short of that mark. The Rangers' rotation should be led by Jacob deGrom and Nathan Eovaldi. After that, there are as many as a half-dozen pitchers competing for the other three spots, including Jon Gray, Tyler Mahle, Kumar Rocker, Jack Leiter, Dane Dunning and Cody Bradford. 1/06/25 | Texas Rangers Trade One of Their Top Prospects to Cincinnati Reds in Latest Move. This has not been a quiet offseason for the Texas Rangers. After missing the playoffs last year, the front office is doing their part to make sure that doesn't happen again, re-signing Nathan Eovaldi, adding more star hitters in Jake Burger and Joc Pederson, and making upgrades to their bullpen. The Rangers have been aggressive the past few winters, and this is a return to that mentality. While Texas seems to have completed the majority of their moves, they are still in the sweepstakes for Roki Sasaki, although they might have an uphill battle on that front to land the Japanese phenom.
