A road trip to face off, finally, against division foes in Pittsburgh and Milwaukee would seem like an earned respite. But that's not how the Cubs see it. “In the big leagues, you just never know. You can run into a team with a bad record that's playing well that can do damage and school you,” starting pitcher Jameson Taillon said Sunday. “Back when I played with Pittsburgh,

3/29/25 Cubs' Jameson Taillon struggles vs. Diamondbacks in season debut. Cubs right-hander Jameson Taillon was aiming for the outside edge of the strike zone with a fist-pitch cutter and a fifth-pitch slider to Eugenio Suárez in separate at-bats. “Obviously, he hits mistakes, but he also has good coverage on breaking balls middle-down,” Taillon said after the Cubs' 8-1 loss Friday to the Diamondbacks. Both hung over the middle of the plate, and Suárez blasted a pair of two-run home runs to account for half of the Diamondbacks' runs Friday in a rout.
