12/25/21 Yankees Stockpiling MiLB Catching Depth. The catching market was barren before the MLB lockout began, but neither of those obstacles have stopped the Yankees from adding backstops this winter. New York has brought in three catchers on minor league deals in recent weeks, re-signing Rob Brantly and inking David Freitas and Rodolfo Durán. Gary Sánchez and Kyle Higashioka are the only catchers on New York’s 40-man roster, and top prospect Austin Wells hasn’t played above High-A ball yet, so the Yankees are stockpiling depth that they surel...

12/24/21 Yankees Bolster Catching Depth, Add Promising Bullpen Arm. While all has been relatively quiet on the Yankees’ front during the first month of the lockout, they did make a few moves recently to bolster their minor league depth. 3/16/21 Yankees 7, Tigers 4: Clint Frazier's three-hit game leads the way. There may not have been any way to see them, but the Yankees sent out a fairly strong starting lineup against the Tigers on Tuesday. Aside from third-string catcher Rob Brantly, every hitter is either a lock for the Opening Day roster (assuming no injuries), or is fighting for one of the last spots. The stacked lineup delivered, scoring six runs in the first five innings.

7/30/20 Is Bart close to arriving at the station?. The San Francisco Giants have made it deep enough into the caught-on-fire hexagon of weirdness that is the 2020 MLB season that they can now call up Bart without him losing a year of service time. Had they brought him up for Opening Day, and had the Miami Marlins coronavirus outbreak put the cap on the season, Bart would have accrued a full season of service time; so you can see why Rob Brantly was on the roster instead.
