7/11/25 | Phillies Ace Zack Wheeler Will Not Participate in All-Star Game. The Philadelphia Phillies are looking to finish the first half of the season on a high note. 7/11/25 | Phillies Ace Snubbed Again As Mets Starter Shockingly Gets All-Star Nod Over Him. The Philadelphia Phillies have been carried by their elite starting rotation again. Behind Zack Wheeler, who is putting together another Cy Young-caliber season, there are plenty of starters performing at the top of their games with Ranger Suarez, Cristopher Sanchez and Jesus Luzardo dazzling for the majority of the year. Sanchez was snubbed in the initial roster announcement despite the fantastic season he has put together. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/phillies/news/phillies-ace-... |
7/09/25 | Phillies Star Zack Wheeler in Position for Accolades With Unprecedented Stretch. When the Philadelphia Phillies signed Zack Wheeler away from their National League East rivals, the New York Mets, ahead of the 2020 campaign, a lot of eyebrows were raised. The two sides agreed to a five-year, $118 million deal, which was considered by some to be an overpay based on Wheeler's track record. In hindsight, that deal was eyebrow-raising, but not because Wheeler didn't live up to expectations; it was because he blew all of the expectations out of the water, providing the team with incredible value. 7/08/25 | How to Watch Phillies Top Prospect Andrew Painter Pitch on Tuesday. The Philadelphia Phillies already have one of the very best starting rotations in all of baseball, and even more help is on the way. While Zack Wheeler vies for the first National League Cy Young award of his career and Cristopher Sanchez and Jesus Luzardo establish themselves as legitimate top-of-the-rotation arms, a crop of young reinforcements is working its way through the minor leagues. The group is led by top prospect Andrew Painter. The right-handed pitcher is the No. 1 prospect in the team's system and the No. 10 prospect in the entire sport according to MLB Pipeline. 7/07/25 | How egregious were the Phillies’ All-Star snubs?. Zack Wheeler and Kyle Schwarber were about much of locks as All-Star candidates can be, especially the former, whose third career selection came on the heels of an otherworldly complete game against the Reds. The Phillies’ list wasn’t supposed to end there. At least, not if you’re of the crowd that thought any of Ranger […] Source: https://www.philliesnation.com/2025/07/mlb-all-sta... |

Veteran starter Zack Wheeler threw a one-hitter for his first complete game since 2021 in the Philadelphia Phillies' 3-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday, improving to 9-2 after allowing only a leadoff homer to Austin Hays in the fifth inning. 7/05/25 | Chase Burns faces Zack Wheeler in Reds-Phils rubber match. On Sunday, he'll get a good look at what it takes to be one of the league's top pitchers when he faces Zack Wheeler and the Philadelphia Phillies. Burns had a productive major league debut on June 24, when he allowed three runs in five innings against the New York Yankees, striking out eight without a walk. The Reds believe that Burns was tipping pitches in his first career road start and they hope to have that issue ironed out before the Wake Forest product takes the mound at Citizens Bank Park in Sunday's series rubber game. 7/03/25 | Phillies Starter Zack Wheeler Named National League Pitcher of the Month. The Philadelphia Phillies may have had some ups and downs in June, but they have been able to rise to first place in the National League East despite this. The starting rotation has been a major bright spot for Philadelphia this year, with arguably the best unit in baseball. In June, the right-hander was fantastic, and he was recently recognized as the NL Pitcher of the Month. Last month, Wheeler totaled a 2-1 record, 0.58 ERA, and 0.87 WHIP. 7/02/25 | Phillies Ace Putting Himself in Position for First Career Cy Young Award. The Philadelphia Phillies earned their 50th win of the season this past Monday night with a shutout victory over the San Diego Padres to get the series started off on the right foot. While it's always nice to win a big game against a quality opponent, the individual performance from their starting pitcher might have overshadowed the magnitude of the victory. Phillies ace Zack Wheeler tossed eight shutout innings and struck out 10 Padres hitters all while walking none of them and simply dominating his way through the lineup over and over again. The performance brought Wheeler's ERA on the season down to a 2.27 with a 0.907 WHIP and a Major League-leading 4.4 bWAR among starting pitchers. 7/02/25 | Will Phillies' Zack Wheeler start the All-Star Game in his hometown of Atlanta?. Zack Wheeler has been one of the best pitchers in baseball since joining the Phillies prior to the 2020 season. When National League rosters are announced on Sunday, it would be a shock - not to mention a travesty - if Wheeler didn't make his third All-Star team. Considering his stature as one of baseball's best pitchers and the fact this year's All-Star Game is in his hometown of Atlanta, Wheeler would make sense as a potential All-Star Game starter. 7/01/25 | Is Zack Wheeler the best Phillies pitcher in 40 years?. On the surface, it might seem a little sacrilegious to think about Zack Wheeler being the best Phillies pitcher this century (basically since Steve Carlton left the team in 1985). There have been some incredible starting pitchers in the city over that span, from Curt Schilling's nine years in the 1990s, to Cole Hamels quietly putting together 10 of the most productive seasons in team history, to the longevity of Aaron Nola, to the dominance of Roy Halladay — a literal first ballot Hall of Famer — and the brilliance of Cliff Lee. But after Wheeler's eight innings of pure excellence Monday night, striking out 10 while allowing no Padres runs, it seemed like it was at least worth kicking the tires Source: https://www.phillyvoice.com/zack-wheeler-best-phil... |

6/30/25 | Phillies Looking To Go 8-2 in Last 10 Zack Wheeler Starts in Series Opener vs. Padres. The Phillies are 7-2 in Zack Wheeler's last nine starts. The Phils are 4-1 at home in Wheeler's five home appearances during that span. The two exceptions were last week's 2-0 loss in Houston and a rare bad outing from Wheeler against the Braves on May 29. Most Phillies bets seem to be in play on Monday because the Padres haven't been good on the road recently. Source: https://www.crossingbroad.com/news/trending/philli... |
6/29/25 | The Phillies' starting pitching can get them back to October, but can't save them alone. Ranger Suárez took his start deep through seven innings on Sunday in Atlanta, just as he did in his previous outing on Tuesday in Houston, when he went for 7.2 frames. The Phillies' starting pitching has been among the very best in baseball as the calendar pushes into July. Suárez, who improved to 7-2 with Sunday's victory, has been excellent since returning to the fold from late spring and early season back issues. Zack Wheeler has remained as the Cy Young-caliber ace at the top, Cristopher Sánchez keeps finding new heights as a breakthrough lefty, and even though Aaron Nola is down with injury (and was struggling mightily before it), winter trade acquisition Jesús Luzardo has done a lot to counterbalance the veteran's absence and, for a stretch, so had rookie Mick Abel.
