5/16/25 Former Blue Jays Veteran Fan Favorite Released by White Sox Following Injury. A former notable Toronto Blue Jays former player has been released from his minor league contract with a National League team, meaning he will have to find a 10th organization in his decade-plus career. According to the MLB transaction tracker, the Chicago White Sox have released utility man Brandon Drury from his minor league deal after being added to the injured list a week ago. Beginning the season with Triple-A Charlotte, Drury has not played a game since late April after suffering a wrist injury when he was hit by a pitch.

5/15/25 White Sox make quiet move on former Silver Slugger. Veteran infielder Brandon Drury's brief stint with the Chicago White Sox has officially come to an end. According to the MiLB.com transaction log, the White Sox have released Drury from his minor league contract, marking the second time this year the team has cut ties with the 32-year-old. Drury had been on the injured list since May 8 after suffering a wrist injury from a hit-by-pitch while playing for Triple-A Charlotte. Charlotte manager Sergio Santos told Future Sox last week that Drury had experienced discomfort when swinging the bat, though he was still able to field without issue.

Drury was cut before spring training after suffering a thumb injury, but the plan was to bring him back once he healed up. Brandon Drury likely would have made the Chicago White Sox's Opening Day roster had he not fractured his thumb.

Brandon Drury, who joined the White Sox last month on a minor league deal, got off to a strong start this spring, but suffered a thumb fracture and wasn't going to be ready for Opening Day. Drury, 32, spent a half season with the Padres in 2022.
