5/20/25 | Rangers pitcher lands on IL before Yankees clash. The Texas Rangers have placed veteran pitcher Chris Martin on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder fatigue, the team announced less than an hour before first pitch of their series opener against the New York Yankees. The move is retroactive to May 19 and the Rangers called up Cole Winn from Triple-A Round Rock as a corresponding move. Martin, a right-handed reliever, has already appeared in 22 games for Texas out of the bullpen. Source: https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/texas-rangers/rangers... |
5/19/25 | Can the Texas Rangers find the right pieces to a complex bullpen puzzle?. Once again, Chris Young thinks the Rangers have evaded catastrophe in the bullpen. As the week began, the Rangers were anxiously awaiting yet another MRI reading on yet another relief pitcher, but Young was optimistic Chris Martin had dodged serious trouble. If nothing else, though, Martin walking off the mound after throwing one pitch twice in the course of a week ought to serve as a sign to the Rangers that they are sailing into dangerous waters: Overusage Bay. Martin, who turns 39 in two weeks, has appeared in 22 of the Rangers' first 48 games, making him the oldest pitcher in baseball with at least 20 appearances at this point. 5/18/25 | Texas Rangers relief pitcher Chris Martin exits game after just one pitch — again. Texas Rangers right-handed relief pitcher Chris Martin exited Sunday's game vs. the Houston Astros with an apparent injury after just one single pitch. Martin, 38, also exited Tuesday's win vs. the Colorado Rockies after a single pitch. He experienced a “popping” feeling in his elbow, something he'd previously dealt with during his Atlanta Braves tenure, and chose to exercise caution. 5/16/25 | Shawn Armstrong emblematic of Rangers' adaptable bullpen group amid crisis. Just when it seemed like the Rangers had averted a full-blown bullpen crisis, everything imploded. On Friday afternoon, Bruce Bochy expressed optimism that his two best high-leverage relievers, Chris Martin and Luke Jackson, would be back from injury scares. Also said that after a needed day off, Robert Garcia would be available. Instead, with the game on the line, the Rangers had lefty Hoby Milner facing a right-handed hitter and Shawn Armstrong, so good earlier in the week, pitching for the third time in four days and facing Houston a second straight night. 5/14/25 | Texas Rangers receive good news on Chris Martin after he experienced 'popping' in elbow. The Rangers are not planning to put reliever Chris Martin on the IL, at least not yet. Martin, who threw just one official pitch Tuesday before leaving with “elbow tightness,” said an MRI Wednesday revealed no structural damage. The Rangers were encouraged enough that they decided to hold off at least a day. The Rangers also held off another day on any decision on Luke Jackson, who took a line drive off his hand on the first pitch he threw Monday night.
