4/08/24 Could San Francisco Giants Really Consider Trading Top Veteran Outfielder?. Could San Francisco Giants Really Consider Trading Top Veteran Outfielder? The San Francisco Giants could soon have their hand forced by an up and coming slugging prospect. Author: Kade Kistner Apr 08, 2024 In this story: San Francisco Giants Luis Matos Mike Yastrzemski The San Francisco Giants are off to a fairly cold start in the scorching hot National League West. After the additions of Blake Snell, Matt Chapman and Jordan Hicks in MLB free agency, the expectations are high for the 2023 MLB season. But a 4-6 start to the year is far from what the front office, players and fans expected. Especially, when trying to chase down the Los Angeles Dodgers . It also does not help that Michael Conforto

3/29/24 Giants notes: Matos, Teng join team; Cobb's return is close. Before the 2024 MLB season opener Thursday, Giants manager Bob Melvin said his conversation with Luis Matos was the toughest one he had as the roster was finalized. A day later, Matos arrived back in the big leagues. With Mike Yastrzemski on the paternity list and Luke Jackson on the IL, the Giants brought Matos and right-hander Kai-Wei Teng down from Sacramento. The Matos move was expected, although the Teng addition was an emergency addition.

3/15/24 Kurtenbach: Red-hot Luis Matos should be the SF Giants' Opening Day right fielder. It's a ridiculous that he won't be. Luis Matos deserves to be the Giants' Opening Day right fielder this season. He, at the very least, deserves to make the Giants' big-league roster to start the season. But I don't expect either of those things to happen by the time the Giants break camp in Arizona next week. And if that prediction comes to pass, the Giants are making a mistake. Matos, once the Giants' No. 4 overall prospect, is ripping up the Cactus League. In his 31 at-bats going into Friday, he had nine runs, nine hits, seven RBI, three home runs, and was slashing .290/.371/.742. Sure, it's a small sample size, but those are big, big numbers. Lineup-changing numbers, even with an inevitable drop-off. And it's not luck that

12/02/23 Player Review: Luis Matos. Over his first 11 plate appearances in his Major League career, Luis Matos swung-and-missed at a pitch out of the zone once. Fangraphs' quality of contact scale from Soft%, Medium% and High% isn't a measurement based exclusively on exit velocity but “the amount of authority” a batter hits a ball judged by hang-time, trajectory, and its eventual landing spot.
