4/27/24 | Phillies' Nick Castellanos talks strategy for breaking out of slumps. While the Philadelphia Phillies look to once again have a solid season like last year where they won 90 games and made some noise in the postseason, there is one element that needs to be locked in if the team wants success. At the current moment, Phillies star Nick Castellanos is in a slump, but maybe Friday's win over the San Diego Padres could be the start of something great for the 32-year old. It was a great day for the Phillies offense as they beat the Padres, 9-3, where five people hit home runs including Castellanos who hit his first one of the season as he has played in 27 games so far. “Anytime that you get confidence, that you have results, that just builds you up a little bit,” Castellanos said. 4/24/24 | Nick Castellanos knows the “highs and lows” of baseball. Here's how he's navigating this low.. CINCINNATI — Nick Castellanos does not enjoy being a streaky hitter. But that is what he is, and he has learned how to manage the highs and the lows. Right now, he is in a low. After going 0-for-4 on Tuesday night, the Phillies rightfielder is hitting .184/.245/.207 on the season with 21 strikeouts and seven walks. He has just one extra-base hit — the triple he hit on April 20. He is striking out less (23.3%) and walking more (7.8%) than he was in 2023, but by and large, the results aren't there. Nevertheless, he feels like his swing has been more consistent of late. He isn't thinking as much, which is helpful, because overthinking is not useful in times like these. 4/14/24 | Phillies Nick Castellanos stops thinking, stops the boos with game-winning hit against Pirates. Vocal fans at Citizens Bank Park left little doubt about how they felt about Nick Castellanos' consecutive ugly strikeouts earlier Saturday, the latter one coming with a potential go-ahead run on second base, ending the seventh inning. Now Castellanos strode to the plate with the bases loaded with Phillies and one out in the ninth inning, new Pirates reliever Roansy Contreras ready to try to throw one by him.
