The Giants announced on Thursday afternoon that they have hired Oscar Bernard and Damon Minor to serve as assistant hitting coaches under manager Bob Melvin and hitting coach Pat Burrell. Additionally, Taira Uematsu was promoted to major-league quality control coach. Bernard and Minor will replace Pedro Guerrero and Justin Viele, who both left the Giants to join the Marlins and Rangers, respectively.
